I. INTRODUCTION:

MiX Splitter aka MXS is a simple application that helps you splitting your long WAV mix into smaller parts so that it can be recorded on a CD as multiple tracks instead of a big single track. MXS split tracks work well when burned on CD using the software Ahead Nero and the No pause between tracks feature on.
MXS is a small project, and is by no mean the ultimate software that does this kind of work, the strong point of MXS is that it has been engineered in a way that all your Split Markers are automatically shifted during the split process to the nearest zero crossing point, so that no audible click is heard during track to track play back, you do not even have to worry about this, your splits are not shifted by much since zero crossing points are everywhere you will not even notice the splits have moved. When using the No pause between tracks feature of Nero, your mix will be listened as a seamless mix even though you can forward easily to the next track, or reverse to the previous, unlike if it was burned as a single track.
Operating the software is simple and effective and let you set your split markers wherever you wish, and then split it in a push of a button which creates the smaller tracks that are ready to be burned. Your original WAV is never modified by MXS.
NOTE: The demo version only allows one split marker, while the full version let you set unlimited split markers.

III. OPERATION

Points to remember

The graphic WAV does not move as the file is played, the graphic represent only 2 seconds, and these 2 seconds are shown once you pause the file being played (So long the Auto Jump setting is ticked). There is a delay when pushing the pause button, but it does not affect the operation, and the graphic is displayed at the position when the pause button was clicked and not the delay.

Basic

1. Open the wav file you would like to split.
2. Listen to the file and pause the playing operation where you want to apply the split, click Add Marker button. Alternatively you can use Tool>Jump to time to go direct to a time specified by yourself, or you can also use the play section slider to go to a desired position.
3. Once you have applied all your split markers, just push the Split button, depending of the length and number of splits, and your system, the operation may take a few moments.

Advanced

If you would like to fine tune the position once you have paused the file playing, you can drag the graphic 1 or 2 seconds right or left by dragging the slider underneath the WAV graphic representation and either releasing half way or full way, the arrows on both side are not operational. You have to drag the slider using the left mouse button and release it either half way (1 second) or full way (2 seconds).
If you are not satisfied by a split marker, all you need to do is choose it in the drop down menu, and then left click a new position on the graphic and then push the ANP button.
If you would like to listen to a particular split marker, just select it from the drop down menu and then use the play button, if you whish to listen to it again, repeat the above operation by re-selecting it from the drop down menu

Tips

If you were apply split markers to one of your WAV file and decide to stop for any reason, you can save as mxs and work on it later on, by opening this mxs. You can also save after you have generated the WAV tracks (By using the Split button), in case you need to modify it later on for.
Nero is recommended for burning your mix as it can burn with no pause between tracks.
Usually a CD can contain up to 70-80 minutes of music for this reason, it is best to record your mix set so it can fit on a CD.
It takes just a short practice time to learn how to use MiX Splitter effectively, so do not hesitate to play with it first and experiment, then you will be able to split your WAV just like a pro.
